Zoox brings robotaxi service to Las Vegas AREA15 entertainment district

Amazon-owned autonomous vehicle company Zoox has secured an exclusive partnership to provide robotaxi services at AREA15, the immersive entertainment complex located just west of the Las Vegas Strip. The agreement marks another milestone in the company’s expansion across the valley ahead of its public launch later this year.
Partnership details and dedicated zones
The collaboration establishes Zoox as AREA15’s official autonomous ride-hail partner, complete with a branded pickup and drop-off location at the entertainment venue. This dedicated zone will serve the thousands of visitors who frequent attractions like Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart, the upcoming Universal Horror Unleashed experience, and various other immersive exhibits.
The timing aligns with AREA15’s major expansion plans. The venue’s Zone 2: The Terminals project, scheduled to open in August 2025, is expected to significantly increase visitor traffic. Additional attractions slated for late 2025 and 2026 include a multi-use venue inside a transformed Boeing 747, the largest Museum of Ice Cream location, and Interstellar Arc by Felix & Paul Studios.
Expanding robotaxi presence in Las Vegas
This partnership represents Zoox’s latest strategic move in establishing a comprehensive robotaxi network throughout Las Vegas. The company previously announced similar agreements with Resorts World Las Vegas in May 2025, becoming the first robotaxi provider to partner with a major Strip resort, and has also secured partnerships with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Zoox has maintained a significant presence in Las Vegas since beginning testing operations in 2019. The company operates a 190,000-square-foot depot for vehicle maintenance and a 16,000-square-foot office in the southwest valley, demonstrating its long-term commitment to the market.
Technology meets entertainment
The synergy between Zoox’s futuristic transportation and AREA15’s immersive experiences appears intentional. Zoox’s purpose-built robotaxis feature a unique design with four-passenger carriage-style seating, panoramic views, and no steering wheel or pedals – creating an experience that complements AREA15’s focus on cutting-edge entertainment.
“Our partnership strategically amplifies what the attraction delivers to its guests,” explained Michael White, Zoox’s Chief Product Officer. “From the moment guests step into our robotaxi, they’re immersed in the future of transportation, with the freedom to focus on their next adventure rather than the road ahead.”
Public launch approaching
While the service isn’t yet available to the general public, Zoox recently launched its Explorer program in Las Vegas, allowing select riders to experience the robotaxi service and provide feedback. The company experienced a minor setback in April when one of its vehicles was involved in a crash, leading to a voluntary recall of 270 vehicles and a brief pause in operations. Testing has since resumed, with the company targeting a full public launch before the end of 2025.
Interested Las Vegas residents and visitors can sign up for the Explorer program to potentially test the service before its official rollout. Once launched, the robotaxi service will provide transportation between AREA15, Resorts World, and other key destinations throughout the valley, offering a glimpse into the future of autonomous urban transportation.
