WNBA power rankings: Aces topple Lynx as Liberty’s slide continues

Las Vegas rises to the top with 12-game win streak as playoff picture shifts
The Las Vegas Aces have officially taken over the top spot in the WNBA power rankings—thanks to a dominant 12-game win streak that has reshaped the playoff landscape with just a handful of games remaining in the season.
1. Las Vegas Aces (26–14)
Leaping past Minnesota, the Aces capped their streak with an 81–75 win over Atlanta to claim key tiebreakers. A’ja Wilson’s offensive burst—putting up 25.5 points per game in August—is propelling Las Vegas forward. Their 15–3 record since the All-Star break cements their status as the league’s most consistent force.
2. Minnesota Lynx (32–8)
Though they dropped a game to Seattle, the Lynx bounced back with commanding wins over Connecticut and Dallas. As the regular-season winner, Minnesota remains in firm control—but the Aces are right on their heels.
3. Atlanta Dream (26–14)
The Dream stay competitive thanks to a 93–76 win over Connecticut, keeping them locked in the hunt for the No. 2 seed despite Las Vegas holding the tiebreaker. Since August 1, they’ve outscored opponents by an impressive 10.8 points per game. With Jordin Canada back, Atlanta looks ready for the stretch run.
4. Phoenix Mercury (25–14)
The Mercury, riding a 4-game win streak, continue to heat up with strong contributions from stars Alyssa Thomas, Satou Sabally, and Kahleah Copper. They’re in solid position to challenge for the No. 2 seed if they keep rolling.
5. Golden State Valkyries (21–18)
After a week of shooting fireworks (63% from three-point range!), Golden State climbs three spots. Two upcoming matchups with the Lynx will test their mettle as they push for consistency and playoff positioning.
6. New York Liberty (24–16)
New York’s struggles persist, now hanging on while dropping six of ten. Though Breanna Stewart is back, injuries sideline Ionescu and Jones, and the team’s form remains unstable heading into the playoffs.
7. Indiana Fever (21–19)
A strong stretch—including a win over the Storm—kept Indiana afloat, thanks in part to standout performances from Odyssey Sims and Aerial Powers off the bench. They remain unpredictable yet dangerous.
8. Seattle Storm (22–20)
Despite a high point—beating Minnesota—Seattle stumbled against Los Angeles. With only two games left and the Sparks closing the gap, their playoff outlook hinges on finding late-season form.
9. Los Angeles Sparks (19–20)
With consecutive wins over Seattle and Washington keeping them close to playoff contention, the Sparks face a tough schedule ahead—but they’ve shown flashes of resilience.
10. Chicago Sky (9–30)
The Sky remain on the outside looking in but have played competitively with Detroit and Phoenix. Angel Reese helps, and they’re a sleeper upset pick if they hit a hot streak.
The rest of the league continues the second-half slide:
11. Connecticut Sun (10–30)
12. Washington Mystics (16–25)
13. Dallas Wings (9–32)
