Police detain one person as investigation unfolds
Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting that took place Monday afternoon in a northwest valley neighborhood near Vegas Drive and Tenaya Way.
Officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the area and discovered that one individual had been shot. The victim’s current condition has not yet been made public.
Authorities have confirmed that one person has been detained in connection with the incident, though no charges have been announced as of this time.
Police remained on scene into the evening, interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence. While details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting are still limited, LVMPD has stated that more information will be released as the investigation continues.
Residents in the area reported a heavy police presence and temporary road restrictions while detectives processed the scene.
