Sahara Las Vegas joins summer resort fee elimination trend

Historic Strip property offers all-inclusive rates through October
The iconic Sahara Las Vegas has become the latest Strip resort to drop its daily resort fees as part of a summer promotion aimed at attracting visitors during the traditionally slower tourist season. The property’s new “All-In Rate Experience” eliminates the $55-per-night resort fee for stays through October 31, 2025.
The promotion, which must be booked by August 10, represents a significant savings for guests at the 1,616-room resort that first opened its doors in 1952. General Manager Paul Hobson emphasized the property’s commitment to transparent pricing, stating that today’s Vegas visitors value convenience and quality without hidden costs.
What’s included in the promotion
Beyond waiving resort fees, the Sahara package includes several perks designed to enhance the guest experience:
- A $25 daily resort credit applicable toward a prix fixe menu at Balla Italian Soul, the property’s acclaimed restaurant by James Beard Award-winning chef Shawn McClain
- Complimentary late checkout
- Discounts on the popular “Magic Mike Live” show
- Special pricing at Amina Spa
- Buy-one-get-one offers at Azilo Ultra Lounge
The Sahara continues to be one of the few Strip properties offering complimentary self-parking, providing additional value compared to most competitors who charge between $25-50 daily for parking privileges.
Industry responds to market conditions
The Sahara’s move follows similar actions by other Strip properties responding to softer tourism numbers in 2025. Resorts World Las Vegas led the charge earlier this summer by eliminating its $50 nightly resort fee through September 11 and adding free parking to the mix.
These promotional strategies come as Las Vegas experiences a tourism downturn, with visitor volume down 6.5% year-over-year through May. The combination of reduced international travel, inflation concerns, and the typical summer heat has prompted many properties to offer enhanced value propositions.
Resort fees, which typically range from $44 to $57 per night on the Strip, have long been a source of frustration for visitors. These mandatory charges are meant to cover amenities like pool access, fitness centers, and Wi-Fi, but critics view them as hidden costs that make price comparisons difficult.
Additional deals for locals
The Sahara also maintains special offers for Nevada residents and hospitality industry professionals. Local diners can enjoy 50% off premium steaks on Sundays and half-price wine bottles on Wednesdays at Balla Italian Soul with valid identification.
As competition intensifies for summer visitors, properties across Las Vegas are rolling out various incentives. The Venetian and MGM Resorts properties are offering 25% room discounts, while downtown properties like Circa have introduced all-inclusive packages combining accommodations with dining and beverage credits.
For budget-conscious travelers, the elimination of resort fees at select properties represents substantial savings. At the Sahara, waiving the $55 nightly fee (which becomes $62.36 with taxes) can save a couple staying four nights nearly $250 on their total bill.
