Police respond to barricade situation in southeast Las Vegas
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are currently handling an active barricade situation in the southeast valley following a domestic dispute Wednesday evening.
SWAT teams deployed to residential area
Officers responded to the 6500 block of Shining Sand Avenue, near Hollywood Boulevard and Sahara Avenue, shortly after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The incident began as a domestic dispute between two men, according to LVMPD officials.
When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect refused to surrender to police, prompting the department to call in SWAT teams to assist with the situation.
Neighborhood on lockdown
Police have established a perimeter around the neighborhood and are asking residents to avoid the area while the investigation continues. The surrounding streets have been closed off as a safety precaution.
