Nighttime sewer construction to impact traffic at Las Vegas Boulevard and Sahara

A monthlong sewer infrastructure project will create traffic disruptions at one of Las Vegas’ busiest intersections beginning in early August.
Project details and schedule
The Clark County Water Reclamation District will conduct essential sewer line repairs at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Sahara Avenue. To minimize impact on daytime traffic, all work will occur during nighttime hours from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Friday.
Construction crews will use excavators to dig trenches for new sewer line installation and repair existing manholes in the area. The project is expected to last approximately one month.
Lane closures and traffic impact
The following lane closures will be in effect during working hours:
Southbound Las Vegas Boulevard:
- Right lane south of Sahara will be partially closed
Westbound Sahara Avenue:
- Left lane west of Las Vegas Boulevard will be partially closed
All other lanes will remain open and accessible during construction hours. However, drivers should expect delays and increased noise levels when traveling through the intersection at night.
Travel recommendations
Motorists are advised to:
- Plan alternate routes when possible during nighttime hours
- Allow extra travel time when using this intersection
- Exercise caution and watch for construction equipment
- Follow all posted traffic signs and directions from flaggers
This intersection, located near the SAHARA Las Vegas resort and the World’s Largest Gift Shop, typically handles 70,000-85,000 vehicles daily along with thousands of pedestrians.
