Motorcyclist critically injured in crash near Desert Inn and Fort Apache

Collision with Nissan sends rider to hospital with life-threatening injuries
Las Vegas — A motorcyclist was critically injured Monday evening after colliding with a car in the Lakes neighborhood. The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. at the intersection of West Desert Inn Road and Biscayne Bay Drive, not far from Fort Apache Road.
According to police, the rider was traveling east on Desert Inn when a 2012 Nissan Altima headed west attempted a left turn onto Biscayne Bay. The motorcycle struck the front of the Nissan, causing the rider to be ejected from his bike.
Medical personnel transported the motorcyclist to the University Medical Center, where doctors determined his injuries were life-threatening.
The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and appeared sober at the time of the crash. The incident is under ongoing investigation by Las Vegas Metro officers.
