Mother killed, daughter critically injured in southwest valley domestic shooting

Son allegedly shoots family members in Sunday evening incident
A mother is dead and her daughter is fighting for her life after a domestic violence shooting in a southwest Las Vegas valley home Sunday evening, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. at a residence near Buffalo Drive and Ford Avenue. Police say they received a 911 call from a woman who reported speaking with a man in his late twenties who claimed to have shot his mother and sister.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered two women suffering from gunshot wounds inside the home. The mother was pronounced dead at the scene, while the daughter was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Swift arrest made
Metro police were able to quickly locate the suspect nearby with assistance from the initial 911 caller. The man was taken into custody without incident, authorities said.
Officers also confirmed that a silver truck stopped on Blue Diamond Road near Buffalo Drive was connected to the shooting investigation.
Police described the incident as an isolated domestic violence situation and stated there is no ongoing threat to public safety. The identities of the suspect and victims have not been released pending notification of family members.
This remains an active investigation as detectives work to determine the circumstances that led to the tragic shooting.
