Local organizations step up to support Vegas students for new school year

As summer winds down and the Clark County School District prepares to welcome students back on August 11, 2025, numerous Las Vegas organizations are working to ensure every child starts the year prepared and confident.
Free clothing boutique serves thousands
Our School Boutique, operated by Assisting Lives in Las Vegas, continues its decades-long mission of providing free clothing to students in need. The program, which has operated since 1978, has served over 172,000 students throughout its history.
The boutique creates a retail-like shopping experience where qualified students can select five complete outfits, including shirts, pants, jackets, socks, underwear, and shoes. School supplies are also provided at no cost, ensuring children have everything they need for a successful start.
Community partnerships expand support
The Olympia Companies Charitable Foundation has joined the effort with collection drives running through July 18. Donation boxes are located at:
- Olympia Management Office
- Skye Center
- Skye Fitness
- Aspire Coffee House (Southern Highlands and Skye Canyon locations)
The foundation is specifically seeking notebooks, folders, writing supplies, crayons, and new children’s athletic shoes.
Valley-wide back-to-school events
Multiple organizations across Las Vegas are hosting supply drives and resource fairs throughout July and early August. Cox Communications continues its long-running Back to School Fair series at various locations, offering free backpacks while supplies last and connecting families with school district representatives and community resources.
Project 150, which specifically serves homeless high school students, will host its annual shopping event where teens can receive brand-name clothing and supply-filled backpacks. The Nevada Treasury and various county commissioners are also organizing supply giveaways at community centers throughout the valley.
Rising costs drive need for assistance
With recent surveys showing parents expect to spend an average of $741 on back-to-school essentials this year—up $200 from last year—the need for community support has never been greater. Many families are feeling financial pressure as they prepare multiple children for the new academic year.
Organizations accepting donations year-round include Assisting Lives in Las Vegas and various Family Resource Centers throughout Clark County. These groups provide ongoing support to ensure no student falls behind due to lack of basic supplies or clothing.
