Kelly Clarkson postpones August Vegas residency for family emergency

Grammy-winning singer Kelly Clarkson has postponed the remainder of her August “Studio Sessions” dates at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, citing a family medical emergency involving her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
Singer prioritizes children during difficult time
In an emotional statement posted to social media Wednesday evening, Clarkson revealed that Blackstock, father of her two children, has been battling illness over the past year.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” the 43-year-old singer shared. “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
The postponement affects four remaining August dates, with Clarkson scheduled to have performed through August 16. Fans who purchased tickets will be contacted by the venue’s ticketing office regarding rescheduling options and refunds.
Second setback for Vegas residency
This marks the second disruption to Clarkson’s highly anticipated Las Vegas residency. The “Since U Been Gone” singer previously postponed her July 4-5 opening weekend just hours before showtime, citing vocal strain from intensive rehearsals.
“The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice,” Clarkson explained at the time. “I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage.”
The residency ultimately launched on July 11, with tickets ranging from standard pricing at $133 to resale tickets reaching $1,200.
November dates still scheduled
Despite the current postponement, Clarkson’s November dates remain on schedule. The “Studio Sessions” residency is set to resume November 7-8 and 14-15 at The Colosseum.
The Vegas shows promise an intimate experience that brings Clarkson’s studio to the stage, following her successful 2023 and 2024 residencies at PH Live at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
Clarkson shares two children with Blackstock: daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remington Alexander, 9. The former couple’s divorce was finalized in 2022, with Clarkson receiving primary physical custody of their children.
