Colorado man dies in Las Vegas parking lot crash at Tropicana shopping center
A 29-year-old Fort Collins, Colorado man died Monday night after his SUV crashed into a retaining wall at high speed in an east Las Vegas shopping center parking lot, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
Fatal collision details
The incident occurred at 8:39 p.m. in the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter located at 3075 East Tropicana Avenue, near the intersection with McLeod Drive. Police investigators report that a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban rapidly accelerated southbound through the parking lot before colliding with a block retaining wall.
The impact resulted in major front-end damage to the vehicle. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the fatal collision. The sudden acceleration of the vehicle through the parking lot remains under scrutiny as investigators work to determine what caused the driver to lose control.
