Police search for white SUV after hit-and-run leaves wheelchair-bound woman critical

Nissan Pathfinder sought in early morning downtown crash
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are urgently seeking public assistance in locating a white Nissan Pathfinder involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a 58-year-old woman in critical condition early Sunday morning near downtown Las Vegas.
The incident occurred at 4:01 a.m. on July 27 at the intersection of West Bonanza Road and North City Parkway. According to police, the woman was in a wheelchair pushing a shopping cart when she was struck while crossing within a marked crosswalk.
Details of the crash
Surveillance video and scene evidence show the 2013-2017 white Nissan Pathfinder was traveling westbound on Bonanza Road when it struck the pedestrian with its front right side. The impact threw the woman from her wheelchair onto the roadway.
Police noted that while the victim was using a marked crosswalk, the pedestrian signal was displaying “don’t walk” at the time of the collision.
The driver failed to stop after the crash, continuing westbound on Bonanza Road before turning north onto Martin Luther King Boulevard. The vehicle is believed to have a sunroof and may have sustained damage to its front end from the impact.
Critical injuries
Emergency responders transported the woman to University Medical Center Trauma, where she remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Medical staff at UMC confirmed the severity of her condition.

Las Vegas Metro Police detectives are urging anyone with information about the vehicle or driver to come forward. The department has released surveillance images showing the white SUV fleeing the scene.

Growing concern over pedestrian safety
This incident adds to ongoing concerns about pedestrian safety in Las Vegas, particularly for vulnerable road users including those with disabilities. The crash location near downtown Las Vegas has seen previous pedestrian incidents, highlighting the need for continued vigilance from both drivers and pedestrians.
Police remind drivers that fleeing the scene of an accident, especially one involving injuries, is a serious crime that carries significant legal consequences. They emphasize the importance of remaining at the scene and rendering aid when safe to do so.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue to analyze evidence and follow up on leads from the community.
