Incident unfolds in northeast valley business parking lot
North Las Vegas Police responded to a gas station parking lot near East Tropical Parkway and Nicco Way around 1:55 p.m. Sunday, following reports of a suspicious vehicle carrying two adults and three children. When officers arrived, they approached the vehicle and spoke briefly with the driver before he unexpectedly got back into the car, injuring a child who had been left outside.

The driver then circled the lot and accelerated toward officers, striking one before a North Las Vegas officer discharged his firearm. The car continued down Tropical Parkway, coming to a stop in the median. Investigators confirmed the suspect was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody.
Injuries, investigation, and road closures
The suspect sustained at least one gunshot wound and was transported to a nearby hospital. The injured officer suffered minor injuries requiring medical attention. The woman involved and the children were also checked by medical personnel, though no serious injuries were reported.
Tropical Parkway was temporarily shut down in both directions near the 215 Freeway interchange while detectives processed the scene. The names of the officers involved are being withheld during the standard 72-hour notification period. This marks the second officer-involved shooting in North Las Vegas this year.
