Metro patrol vehicle involved in crash; Officer hospitalized

LAS VEGAS — An officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) was taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash in the east Las Vegas Valley. The incident caused significant traffic delays and drew a large emergency response.
Crash near East Bonanza and Nellis
According to Metro officials, the crash occurred just before 2:35 p.m. in the 4800 block of East Bonanza Road, near the intersection with North Nellis Boulevard. The collision involved a marked Metro patrol vehicle and another civilian vehicle.
Emergency services responded quickly to the scene. The officer involved was transported to University Medical Center (UMC) with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
Traffic impact and response
Traffic in the area was heavily impacted during the investigation and cleanup. East Bonanza Road was partially closed for a time while Metro officers worked to clear the scene and document the crash. Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes throughout the afternoon.
At this time, there has been no official word on the cause of the crash or whether any citations or charges will be issued. The identity of the officer has not been released, and the condition of any other individuals involved is currently unknown.

Metro’s Traffic Bureau is continuing to investigate the incident. As of Thursday morning, there have been no further updates on the officer’s condition, but authorities have confirmed that the injuries are not considered life-threatening.
