Las Vegas seeks 64 AmeriCorps volunteers for community service programs

The City of Las Vegas is recruiting 64 part-time AmeriCorps positions, offering residents an opportunity to serve their community while earning educational benefits and gaining professional experience.
Service commitment and requirements
The positions involve a nine- to 11-month service commitment through the national AmeriCorps program, which engages over 200,000 Americans annually in community service initiatives.
Eligibility requirements include:
- Must be 17 years or older
- High school diploma or GED required by service term completion
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident status
Financial benefits and compensation
AmeriCorps participants receive substantial benefits for their service:
- Living stipend up to $24,962 for one-year service term
- Education award up to $7,395 upon completion
- Federal student loan forbearance or deferment eligibility

Youth Development Programs:
- Batteries Included/NextGen – Leadership program for middle and high school teens
- Strong Future Technology – Tech skills training for youth ages 16-24
- Strong Start GO Ambassadors – Mobile pre-kindergarten education support
- Youth Fire Prevention Assistants – Fire safety education for young people
Education Support:
- ReInvent Schools – Literacy tutoring and chronic absenteeism mentoring
- Strong Start Academy Ambassadors – Academic interventions for elementary students
Community Resources:
- Community Navigator Program – Connecting families to resources in high-need areas
- Community Affairs Ambassador – Coordinating community events and workshops
